there are many African American who made a difference in the world. Hank Aaron was an African American as a sports figure. He had worked hard all his life to acomplish what he has.
Henry Aaron was born in Mobile, Alabama to Herbert and Estella Aaron. Togther they had eight chidren including Henry. One of his brothers Tommie Aaron went on to play major league baseball. Aaron grew up with a poor family and couldn't afford any baseball equiment. So he uesd bottle caps and sticks to play.
Before arriving to the major leagues Hank Aaron joined the Negro leagues just when he was in high school. Aaron attended Central High School as a freshmen and a sophomore. There he played Third base and outfield. Aaron Had tried out for a spot on the Brooklyn Dodgers. He did not do so well on his tryouts and didn't make the team. Aaron was forced to continue his Negro league carrer. When AAron was 18 he helped the clown's win the Negro League World Series. The following year two telegram offers from Mlb teams were offered to Hank Aaron. One offer was from the New York Giants The oter offer was from the Boston Braves.
He made his modern Major League debut during a spring training game with the Braves. Aaron went 0-5 but at his next at bat hit a homerun. In the next 122 season games Aaron batted 280 with 13 homers before a broken ankle stopped him on september 5, 1954.
During the next few years of Hank Aaron's carrer he made his first all star team, it was the first of a tying record of 24 all star appearances. He finished the season with a 314 average, 27 homeruns and 106 RbI. In 1957 Aaron won his only MVP award. oN september 23 1957, Aaron hit a two run homerun against the cardinals, that win clinched a pennant win for the braves. The braves eventually would end up winning the world Series.
During the next few years of his carrer Aaron reached many homerun milestones. He was only the eight player to reach 500 carrer homeruns, at the time the youngest to reach that amount. ON July 31,1969 Aaron hit his 537 homerun which passed Micky Mantle and went third on the all times homerun list. He was now behind Wille Mays and Babe Ruth in the all times homerun list. The next few years Aaron went up second place passing Wille Mays. Hank Aaron was recieving many death threats as he was nearing Babe Ruth's Record. He didn't let it affect him an went on April 18,1974, a crowd of 53,775 people showed up, Aaron blasted number 715 witch broke Babe Ruth's record. That day changed his life forever. He ended his carrer in 1976 with 755 homeruns. Aaron was considered for top five gratest baseball players. Henry Aaron was inducted to the National Baseball Hall of Fame on August 4, 1982.
Hank Aaron was more than a homerun champion. He was a man of great respect and is a great role model to anyone who considers playing sports.
